West Side
Revolution Fall Season 2009 Highlights

We have five new players (Josh, Britt, Nick F., Nick D, and Carter) with great attitudes who are rapidly improving, contributing, and learning what it takes to play in PV Division 1.  We have 3 other players (Chris, Dominic, Bennett) who could be tearing up U11 PV who never quit.  Our other 7 players (Conor, Nick K., Pat, Justin, Nathan, Dan, Brendan) are hard working and support their teammates and lead by good example.  We are more focused on how well we play soccer and the better we play, the better the result will be.  Our goal is to improve each player's confidence, skill, speed of play, focus, and toughness while simultaneously improving our team play.

To all that came to our 3v3 tournament on Labor Day Weekend, thank you for supporting our club.  For those who would have liked to be there, we missed you and hopefully next time you can attend.  We hope everyone had fun, the kids got lots of touches (We saw some great, creative play), and it brought a great group of people together for an afternoon.

Game Summary Agawam, 10/7/09

We had a hard fought game last night against a very determined Agawam team.  Our defense played very well and Dan played his best game ever, making every play and almost stopping the only goal of the game.  We just could not complete passes in the attacking third to get close in shots on Agawam, despite several opportunities for offensive breaks and scoring chances.  They have a very good defense, and hustled back to stop our forwards.  We did tire in the middle of the game, which showed in giving Agawam too much time on the ball and our inability to win our goal kicks.  Well done boys, another positive step for the team.

Friendlies V Berkshire 10/13 and 10/14/09

Back to back great soccer nights for the Revs with the Berkshire U11 MAPLE team.  Great first game last night under the lights at Berkshire.  The kids played multiple positions and it was a good clean game.  The Revs moved the ball very well in the second game, demonstrating some very unselfish team play.  For the first 40 minutes the play was fairly even as we moved our players around and focused strictly on passing and less on going forward.  For the last 20 minutes the boys wanted to go offensive, so we abandoned the sweeper and put the kids into familiar positions.   The Revs proceeded to overwhelm the Berkshire 11 with an alert attack where nearly every 50/50 was won by the Revs followed up by a smart pass into an attacking forward position.  We won the ball in the back, dominated the midfield, and our forwards drove to the goal with some properly weighted through balls.   After 3 goals in 10 minutes we shifted things around to even out the play, but the Revs continued their quick passing and good aggressive defending despite our adjustments to slow them down.  I enjoyed watching our kids step up and win the balls and then start the attack from the back through the midfield, out to the flanks, and to the wings, then into the goal box.

Thanks to everyone who came to the games-players and their parents and other supporters.  Scheduling conflicts limited our turnout, but we were able to field a team for each friendly, and those that played benefited from the game conditions and I saw huge improvement across the board.  Well done boys!
