Fall 2009 Season Summary

This team has generally gotten better and more coachable every game, which is all a coach can ask for.  Our first year players have really improved  in all facets of the game, giving us a roster of 15 solid players.  These first year players  joined a PV Division 1 team from Park and Rec, not even knowing what level of soccer they were getting into.  They deserve a ton of credit for how far they've come in two months competing with the speed of play, skill, and aggressiveness.  Our team has shown improved aggressiveness and confidence to make the play when it needs to be made.

As we have said countless times-we don't care if you make a mistake trying to make a play, the key is to try.  This season our players have refined their skills, shown fantastic versatility, and become excellent ball distributors which involves everyone in the game.   Our experienced players have provided good team leadership and commitment for the others to follow.  Our coaches have worked together with the kids to make it both fun and instructive. All of these factors have really brought the team to a new level which has given us a chance to win several of the games against the best U12 competition in Western Mass.

Remember that how hard and focused you play (your effort, aggressiveness, field smarts, and alertness) affects how well you play.   That one play where you alertly step up, fight to win the 50/50 ball, pass smartly to the inside mid, who quickly passes to the left striker, who skillfully and powerfully crosses to the right mid breaking to the near post, who calmly deposits the ball to the upper 90, might be the game changer!   That one play can be a pivotal play in the game.  You are involved in about 100 such opportunities a game, so make the most of them!

The coaches are very proud of this team and I'm sure all parents and other supporters are too.  Thank you to the parents for the great support and working all your lives and busy schedule around this soccer season.   We've accomplished a great deal this season, even though the standings may not reflect it.  In our minds, the season's was great and we look forward to our soccer future.
